- Waiting Periods:

- Congenital Conditions: Normally conditions that 1 is born with such as hernias. The waiting periods for this are also 1 year for most underwriters.
- Chronic Conditions: This are conditions that are incurable and one will receive treatment for life and include Diabetes, High blood pressure among others. Most insurers have a 1 year waiting period for claims on treatment of this conditions.
- Maternity: Most individual covers have a 12 months waiting period for any inpatient claims relating to this conditions.
