When shopping for a medical insurance there are a number of factors to look out for and the 2nd one we are highlighting today is:
- Sub limits:
This refers to limits placed on treatment for various conditions and is deducted from the main cover limit. Before an inpatient admission it is important to confirm whether the condition is subject to a sub limit. Some conditions with sub limits include:
- Pre-existing conditions: This are conditions one has received treatment or ought to have known existed prior to taking up the cover. This condition has a sub limit from the main benefit Limit.
- Congenital Conditions: Normally conditions that 1 is born with such as hernias. They are subject to a sublimit in case of inpatient treatment Chronic Conditions: This are conditions that are incurable and one will receive treatment for life and include Diabetes, High blood pressure among others. It falls under the same sub limit as Pre-existing conditions
- New Diagnosed Chronic Conditions: This are chronic conditions diagnosed whilst on cover and also have a sublimit.
- Psychiatric/Psychotherapy Treatment: This conditions would also be subjected to sub limits from the total overall annual benefit
Other conditions would include Organ Transplants, Gynecological surgery
Many people take up medical Insurance and assume they are covered to the full inpatient limit but unfortunately that is not the case. The full limit is usually spent in case of an accident admission.
